Many people are familiar with Botox cosmetic treatments because they have heard about what an effective anti wrinkle treatment it is, but Botox can not only stop wrinkles, it can help with several other things as well. Botox works differently depending upon what area of the body it is used, and how the doctor injects the product. With wrinkles, Botox is injected into the muscles that cause the wrinkling, and it forces them to relax rather than constantly contract and form wrinkles.

When Botox is given for migraine headaches, it is typically injected into the “trigger points” in various areas of the head and neck. These muscles in these trigger points contract and cause migraines, so when Botox is injected into them these muscles, they are forced to relax rather than squeeze together and trigger migraine pain. Users of Botox for migraines often find that the frequency and duration of their headaches are dramatically diminished.

When Botox is used for excessive sweating – hyperhidrosis, it is typically placed into the areas of the arm pits that contain the over active sweat glands. Botox works by impacting the neurotransmitters that stimulate sweat — essentially tricking the sweat glands into not producing more sweat than necessary.  Botox for excessive sweating can make a dramatic difference in the life of any person who suffers from this condition, and when it is done regularly there is no reason the excess sweating has to occur ever again.
