Skincare treatment after laser hair removal
Laser hair removal is a common and popular cosmetic procedure that removes body hair for noticeable, lasting results. In every procedure, there are instructions to follow in ensuring those affected areas are properly cared for after the procedure has been completed for healthy skincare. Here are a few tips:
- Redness and Swelling – It is typical for the treated area to have some discomfort, redness and swelling around the hair follicles. This discomfort may be very similar to sunburns. You may apply a cool pack for relief or an ointment recommended by your doctor.
- Topical applications or scrubs – If your treatment included the underarm areas, you may not use any deodorant for a period of 24 to 48 hours. Do not use any abrasive materials or loofahs for five days after the treatment, or pick or rub the affected area. If you experience the development of a crust or rashes, apply the ointment recommended by your doctor to keep the area moist for proper healing.
- Shaving or Waxing – Shaving is recommended between your treatments, but waxing, plucking, tweezing and threading should be avoided.
- Strenuous Activity – Strenuous activity should be avoided, including hot water Jacuzzis and saunas for a period of one to three days after your treatment.
If you are having excessive rashes, blistering or indication that an infection is developing, contact your doctor immediately. Using these tips in your aftercare will assist in keeping your skin healthy during laser hair removal treatments. This procedure is one of the simplest ways to alleviate heavy hair growth while providing a smooth finish.
