BOTOX can ward off chronic migraines and headaches before they begin. Each treatment involves about 30 injections with tiny needles, in the shallow muscles of seven key areas of the head and neck. BOTOX is able to block “pain transmitters”, thereby relieving the patient of discomfort.
Unconsciously grinding or clenching the teeth, either asleep or awake, is known as “bruxism”. This habit can cause severe dental problems (loss of tooth enamel, chipped or flattened teeth, tooth sensitivity, etc.) as well as earaches, headaches, facial pain, and migraines. It can also cause enlargement of the masseter muscles, affecting the appearance of the lower face.
BOTOX injections can control bruxism symptoms. Small doses injected directly into the masseter muscles weaken those muscles sufficiently to stop teeth grinding and jaw clenching from occurring. This treatment can help reduce wear and tear on the teeth and minimize temporomandibular joint (TMD/TMJ) damage.
Hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating) is a condition that is estimated to affect 4.8% of people. Just as BOTOX blocks the signals that cause wrinkles to form, it can also block “sweat messages” that go to your brain, helping those with chronic sweating problems.
