ActiveFX/DeepFx is a new laser skin treatment which offers improvements in skin texture, tone, and firmness.  If you live an active lifestyle and want instant results with minimal downtime then the ActiveFX™ is the best treatment option.  DeepFX™ is used to treat lines, wrinkles, acne scars, pigmentation, hypertrophic scars and discoloration.

ActiveFX™/DeepFX™ are cutting edge tools to treat the complete range of wrinkling and scarring.

ActiveFX employs a "fractional" method of laser skin resurfacing, which means it works on a fraction of the skin.  This creates treatment "dots" on the skin- each dot of treated skin is next to a dot of untreated skin. A "fraction" of the skin’s surface is treated rather than the entire surface. This allows for faster healing, while reducing collateral skin damage, swelling, and redness.

ActiveFX covers about 80% of the skin’s surface.  The 80% coverage by ActiveFXseems to provide a good balance of desired results with minimal amount of downtime. The downtime (time to recuperate) from an ActiveFX procedure is typically 3-5 days.  Most women can wear makeup at 4-5 days after the procedure.  ActiveFX results also indicate that there is less pain associated with this procedure, only a topical anesthetic is needed.

FAQ’s for ActiveFX/DeepFX

How do laser treatments work?

With fractional facial resurfacing, a high-energy beam of CO2 light is used to vaporize lines, wrinkles, scars, dark spots and other irregularities, layer by layer.  This process also stimulates the formation over time of new, underlying collagen to provide better elasticity and support for the skin.

Are laser treatments safe?

Lasers have been used in cosmetic surgery for more than 20 years and have been proven to provide safe with predictable results.  Alternative treatments such as deep chemical peels and deep dermabrasion have largely been replaced by laser procedures due to the precision and uniformity that fractional laser resurfacing provides.

What is the recovery time for facial resurfacing with the ActiveFX?

For moderate to deep treatments, your skin will go through an initial healing period which lasts 3-5 days.  Patients can return to normal activities after 5 days.  This new fractional technology allows you to return to your active lifestyle with ease.

Are the treatments painful?

Treatments are performed in our office under topical anesthesia.  Because pain tolerance is highly individual, Dr. Ataii will tailor the approach to ensure your comfort – both during and after the procedure.

What results can I expect, and how long will the benefits of my treatment last?

ActiveFX will help eliminate wrinkles and sun damage.  It will restore your skin to a healthy state similar to that of skin that has not experienced sun damage or aging.  With proper sun protection, results can persist for more than five years.  As skin continues to age at a normal rate, you may choose to maintain results with a “touch-up” treatment after 6 months.
