Acne is a problem that affects adolescents and adults alike. Not exclusive to teenagers, many young adults have trouble with acne that is difficult to control.
Your treatment will depend on your skin type and the acne severity. In treating ALL acne, the first step is making sure you have the appropriate skin care. Your skin care regime will help reduce acne and maintain your skin after proper treatments.
At Laser Cliniqúe there are several acne treatment options:
-
Photodynamic Therapy: Photodynamic Therapy, aka as “PDT”, is a special treatment performed with a topical photo sensitizing agent called Levulan (or ALA) activated with the correct wavelength of light, such as the BLU-U® or IPL. PDT has the unique ability to minimize pores and reduce oil glands, effectively treating stubborn acne vulgaris, pustular acne, rosacea, and improve the appearance of some acne scars.
-
BLU-U®: The BLU-U® offers an effective, non-invasive and pain-free blue light treatment for moderate inflammatory acne vulgaris. A narrow band blue light causes a photodynamic effect within the pylosebaceous gland that kills P.acnes, the bacteria primarily responsible for acne vulgaris.
-
Vibradermabrasion: Vibradermabrasion is a method of helping to physically remove dead skin cells from the surface of the skin and reduce pore blockage and acne. It is a crystal-free microdermabrasion that helps eliminate the stratum corneum. It is especially effective for comedones (blackheads).
-
Chemical Peels: Instead of physically exfoliating the skin, chemical peels exfoliate by using substances such as alpha-hydroxy acids (fruit acids) or beta-hydroxy acids. Beta-hydroxy acid peels, also known as salicylic acid peels, are a good option for those with acne as it helps reduce inflammation associated with the acne. Laser Cliniqúe offers 3 levels of chemical peels (Light, Medium and Strong).
-
Prescription Medications: Whether an oral medication or a topical cream, Dr. P.A. Ataii will be able to determine which prescription medication would work the best for your skin type.
